Updated June 28, 2025
Novak Djokovic is setting his sights on Wimbledon, hoping to tap into his deep well of motivation and tradition at the prestigious tournament. This comes after a recent grass court tune-up match where he struggled with backhand errors, falling to Karen Khachanov 7-6 (4), 6-4 at the Hurlingham Club in London.
The Wimbledon bid follows Djokovic’s semifinal defeat against Jannik Sinner at the French Open. Despite putting up a fight against the world’s top-ranked player, Djokovic ultimately lost steam, marking his fourth consecutive loss to the rising 23-year-old star.
Djokovic, holding a 21-8 record this year, currently ranks No.6 on the men’s tour. He hopes to improve his form on the grass courts of Wimbledon.
“(It) was a straight-set loss, but I feel like I did give him a run for his money, so to say,” Djokovic said earlier this month at Roland-Garros.”I tried to make him work till the last shot.I did what I could. This is sport. You have to just shake the hand of the better player and move on.”
What’s next
Djokovic will continue to prepare for Wimbledon, aiming to fine-tune his game and recapture his championship form. His performance at the tournament will be closely watched as he seeks to add another title to his illustrious career.
