Djokovic wins Paris Masters… ATP 1000 37th win

World No. 1 men’s tennis player Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won the Paris Masters for the 37th time in his career at the ATP Masters.

Djokovic defeated World No. 2 Danil Medvedev (Russia) 2-1 (4-6 6-3 6-3) in the men’s singles final of the ATP Tour Rolex Paris Masters held in Paris, France on the 8th (Korean time).

With this, Djokovic set the record for most wins with his 37th ATP Masters 1000 win. Previously, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal (Spain) tied for first place in this category with 36 times.

The ATP Masters 1000 is the second highest ranked tournament in men’s professional tennis after the four major tournaments and the ATP Finals. As Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinals of this tournament, he secured first place in the world rankings at the end of the year. Djokovic has reached number one in the world rankings at the end of the year so far seven times, which is also a new record for men’s tennis.

The day Djokovic set a new record was even more meaningful as his son Stefan and daughter Tara watched him play on the pitch for the first time.

“This is the first time my two children have visited the stadium,” Djokovic said after winning. Children are the greatest success and greatest treasure of my life.”

In addition, Djokovic insulted Medvedev, who blocked his ‘Calendar Grand Slam (sweeping four major tournaments)’ last September with this victory. Djokovic was aiming for a calendar grand slam this year, sweeping the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in sequence. However, in the US Open final against Medvedev, they lost 3-0.
