The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) board of directors has officially opened the submission process for its fifth president and chief executive officer. This pivotal leadership transition is set to begin on January 1, 2026, with the accomplished candidate succeeding Rob Denson, who announced his retirement in January after an impactful 22-year tenure.
A Community-Driven Search Process
The launch of the presidential search follows a comprehensive engagement period with key stakeholders across the DMACC community. Nearly 450 individuals contributed valuable feedback through a series of in-person and online forums, as well as a dedicated survey. This collective input has been instrumental in shaping the Presidential Profile, a document that will serve as the guiding compass for the selection committee throughout the rigorous search process.
Key Dates and Application Information
Application Deadline for Priority Consideration: August 29.
Screening Committee Review: In September, a committee comprised of Iowa community college leadership will review applications.
Semi-Finalist Selection: The committee will narrow the field to 10 or fewer semi-finalist candidates.
Online Interviews: Semi-finalists will participate in online interviews.
* In-Person Interviews: Following online interviews, a select group will advance to in-person interviews in October.
