The Apple Store app isAR function that displays information about the product when the camera is held upit can be implemented in the future. It has been in the works since at least 2020, according to the latest newsletter from renowned Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is familiar with Apple.

It’s been testing in stores for the past few months, but it’s unclear when it will be available to the public. Apple has prepared a related API for developers, and it is also expected to be used outside of directly managed stores.

Gurman called it “one of Apple’s most important AR announcements to date,” and points to the fact that it’s a feature that will lead to mixed reality headsets when it comes to the spring announcement.
