domingo Hindoyan Named LA Opera Music Director
Los angeles Opera has tapped Domingo Hindoyan as its next Richard Seaver Music Director. The declaration follows speculation sparked by Hindoyan’s accomplished debut with the company last November in “Roméo et Juliette.” Music critic Mark Swed had noted the debut as a potential sign of things to come.
Hindoyan will take over from James Conlon, who steps down at the end of the 2026 season after joining the company in 2006. Conlon will than assume the newly created role of conductor laureate.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Hindoyan began his musical journey as a violinist. Like Gustavo Dudamel, he is an alumnus of El Sistema, Venezuela’s renowned music education programme. He has also served as principal guest conductor for the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
