[헤럴드경제=이원율 기자]A poisonous snake with two heads on one body was discovered in Japan, making it a hot topic.

According to reports from Japan’s RKB Mainichi News on the 8th, a man who was climbing a mountain in Hachimannishi-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka around 2pm on the 4th saw a two-headed snake in a corner of the hiking trail.

At the time of discovery, the snake had patterns of brown spots. The length is about 20 cm. However, he was said to have already died when he was found.

The man said, “The snake didn’t move,” and “As I got closer, I saw that it had two heads attached to it.”

The man decided to donate the snake’s body to a local museum. It is currently stored at the Inochinotabi Museum in Hachiman Nishi Ward.

As a result of the research team’s analysis, it was found that the snake found this time was a pond viper that lives throughout Japan and was about 6 to 7 months old.

Vipers, a type of poisonous snake, cannot be sold in Japan.

Reptile experts agree that the chance of seeing a dead two-headed lion in nature is close to a miracle. This is because the probability of a two-headed snake being born is extremely low, and a dead body is quickly eaten by wild animals or crows.

The average lifespan of a snake is 15 to 20 years. However, most two-headed lions are said to die immediately after birth without being able to grow. Usually, one of the two ends is known to be more dominant, but it is said that there are many cases where the two ends do not cooperate with each other and cannot even move properly.

The museum plans to open the newly discovered body of the two-headed lion to the public this summer.

Meanwhile, in 2020, a two-headed snake was found in a home in Palm Harbour, Pinellas County, Florida, USA.

At the time, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said, “This snake has two brains that control its ability to avoid or avoid being eaten by predators, so it makes different decisions. From now on, it will living in captivity rather than in the wild.”
