Mayor Hong said, “During the last presidential primaries, I stressed that the investigation into Cho Kuk’s family was an excessive investigation, and it was harshly criticized as extortion of Cho Kuk. “I stressed that it was an excessive investigation, but some people rushed to slander me like a swarm of bees,” he recalled.

He said, “I had no reason to take Cho Kuk’s side and was talking about the principles of the investigation, but when I saw that some camps were just making emotional slanders rather than rational criticism, I thought the camp’s logic had gone too far,” and “This investigation by Moon Jae-in is also based on the same logic,” he stressed.
