Mumbai: A husband and brother-in-law have been arrested for killing a woman and dumping her body in a suitcase in the sea. The incident took place in Naigaon, Mumbai. Anjali, a native of Naigaon was killed. Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) police arrested her husband Mintu Singh and her brother Chunjun on Saturday. The police said that the tattoo on Anjali’s left hand is crucial in finding the accused.
Police say: A suitcase containing the body of a young woman was washed ashore on Uthan Beach on Friday morning. The morning cyclist who saw this reported the information to the police. When the police arrived and checked, they found the headless body severed in two. While examining the body before sending it for post-mortem, the police noticed a tattoo of ‘Om’ and ‘Trishul’ on the left hand of the deceased.
The police visited more than 40 tattoo artists in Naigaon area to find the person who tattooed the two symbols on the hand of the deceased. According to information provided by a tattoo artist, the woman has been identified as Anjali Singh (27), a resident of Raj Emerald Society, Naigaon East. Then Anjali Mintu’s husband inquired. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had killed Anjali.
Anjali, who works in the catering business, often goes out. In his confession, Mintu said that this led him to suspect that Anjali was cheating on him. There were often disputes about this. There was a similar dispute on May 24. During the argument, Mintu would hit Anjali’s head against the wall and then strangle her to death.
Mintu later called his brother Chunchun. The two bought a large knife and cut the body in two. The head was separated. The two pieces of the body were stuffed in the suitcase. It was dumped in the sea near Naigaon. The head was buried elsewhere. When they left to throw the suitcase into the sea, they took Mintu’s two-year-old son with them.
Police said Mintu and Chunchun were arrested on charges of murder and tampering with evidence. The police are trying to find the woman’s head. The accused, who has been kept in police custody until June 8, is being questioned in this connection. The police said they got the CCTV footage of the two going on a scooter with a suitcase.
