Dramatic Dispute at Mumbai-Bihar Ranji Trophy Match in Patna

Patna: Dramatic scenes during the Mumbai-Bihar Ranji Trophy match. Two teams from Bihar took to the floor simultaneously in the match against Mumbai at the Muinul Haq Stadium in Patna on Friday. The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) group reached the ground.

Apart from the team selected by BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, another team selected by suspended secretary Amit Kumar took to the field at the same time. Due to the verbal dispute, the start of the game was delayed. Finally, the police had to intervene. After the dispute, the authorities allowed the team selected by Rakesh Tiwari to play.

The game starts at eleven o’clock. President Rakesh said that we have selected the team based on merit and this is the right team. ‘Don’t you see talent coming from Bihar? We have a player (Saqib Hussain) selected for the IPL. The 12-year-old boy makes his debut. The second team was chosen by the banned secretary, and that is not the real team,’ he added.

Amit Kumar responded that he won through the election and he is the official secretary of BCA. “You can’t stop a secretary. How can a president choose a team? Have you ever seen BCCI president Roger Binny announcing the team? You can see the signature of Secretary Jai Shah’ – added Amit.

In a press release issued later, the BCI said the suspended secretary was the cause of the problems. The note also says that strong action will be taken against him.
