Ukraine Launches Largest Drone Attack on Russia

Ukraine launched its largest drone attack on Russia since the start of the war, targeting the capital Moscow and border regions of Buyansk and Kusk.

Russia claimed to have intercepted 144 drones, including a suburban building in Moscow that was bombed, killing a 46-year-old woman and injuring three people. 43 people were evacuated from the building.

The attack was part of a wave of drone strikes that hit multiple locations in Russia, with at least 20 drones targeting Moscow directly.

An eyewitness described the scene, saying “A man was carried out of Room 21. He said he had burns and wounds on his side. The windows of our house were broken and there was drone debris on the balcony.”

The attack caused significant damage, with dozens of houses destroyed and people killed in the fire. Three of Moscow’s four airports were closed, and 50 planes were diverted due to drone debris blocking major highways.

Ukraine has increased its attacks on military targets and power plants in Russia in recent weeks. The latest wave of attacks saw many drones flying at an altitude of over 800 kilometers.

The US has warned that Russia could use Iranian missiles to attack Ukraine in the coming weeks. Western allies are uncertain about lifting restrictions on Ukraine using long-range weapons.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that Russia’s receipt of Iranian missiles could lead to a dramatic escalation of the conflict.

The White House confirmed that it will unite European countries to impose new sanctions on Russia in response to its actions.

Ukrainian President Zelensky appointed a new foreign minister on the same day, with the former ambassador to Turkey taking over.
