A drunk driver drove his car to the police station and was arrested.

This absurd accident occurred in front of the Dongjak police station in Seoul around 10pm on the 17th. In the video released on the National Police Agency’s YouTube channel on the 28th, a car slowly appears in front of the main gate of the police station . He then awkwardly moves back and forth repeatedly, and finally manages to park the car askew in the parking area inside the police station.

After a while, Man A got out of the car and approached the police officer guarding the main gate of the police station. He then says: “I came to look for my (lost) cell phone”. The police officer on duty at the time had observed the vehicle before Mr A parked the car, and was suspicious of Mr A’s red face when he approached.

After confirming Mr. A’s identity, the police officer asked: “Have you been drinking?” In response, Mr A walked away, saying: “What kind of alcohol is that?”, but the police officer approached him again, saying: “Try blowing on it”. Mr. A looked at the police officer’s face and let out a short sigh, and the police officer, who was sure that he smelled of alcohol, immediately handed over the car keys.

Mr A was arrested on the spot by road safety officers and district police who arrived at the scene after receiving the call. Following the breathalyzer test, Mr. A’s blood alcohol content was equal to the “license suspension” level (more than 0.03% but less than 0.08%). The police arrested Mr A on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
