Designer Ken Fulk has listed his personal Napa Valley retreat, known as Durham Ranch, for $4.5 million. The property, located at 4553 Chiles Pope Valley Road in St. Helena, California, is being marketed by Hillary Ryan of Sotheby’s International Realty – St. Helena Brokerage.
The estate spans approximately 76 private acres just outside the town of St. Helena. The land is characterized by ancient oaks and seasonal streams, designed to provide a balance of seclusion and proximity to the wineries, restaurants, and cultural destinations of the Napa Valley region.
The Ranch Cottage and Architectural Details
At the center of the compound is a restored ranch cottage measuring approximately 1,250 square feet. The residence includes two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, featuring an aesthetic defined by bluestone floors, board-and-batten walls, and open-rafter ceilings.
The interiors incorporate a variety of reclaimed and historic materials. Cabinetry in the kitchen was crafted from historic fence boards, and barstools were created using salvaged tractor springs. The space is further accented with 1920s Parisian lighting. A large screened porch attached to the cottage provides views of the surrounding landscape and the pool.
The Steel Barn and Expansion Potential
The property also features a 4,500-square-foot steel barn that serves as the primary social hub of the ranch. The structure is designed with 33-foot ceilings and is capable of hosting gatherings for up to 200 guests.
While currently used as a space for celebrations, the barn has potential for residential conversion. Plans for such a conversion have been provided by George Bevan.
Terms of the Sale
The sale of Durham Ranch is intended to be a fully turnkey transition. According to reports from March 26, 2026, the $4.5 million asking price includes nearly all contents of the estate, including the furniture, art, and Fulk’s personal blanket collection.

The transaction also includes a Land Rover. The only items excluded from the sale are the owners’ five dogs.

Property History and Provenance
Durham Ranch was originally a modest cattle ranch dating back to the 1940s. Ken Fulk and his husband and business partner, Kurt Wootton, purchased the property in 2005 for $750,000. The couple subsequently restored and reimagined the site as a personal retreat for family and friends.
The estate was named in honor of the couple’s first Golden Retriever, who did not live to see the acquisition of the ranch.
Fulk described the decision to sell as the end of an era, stating that the ranch was a personal expression and that he views the sale as a gift to the next steward of the land.
