Early voting turnout 34.7% ‘highest ever’… Highest in Jeollanam-do

Citizens cast their votes at an advance polling place at Seoul Station on the 4th, when the early voting for the 20th presidential election started. Reporter Park Jong-minThe early voting turnout for the 20th presidential election was counted at 34.7%, a record high. The turnout was the highest in Jeonnam at 49.5% and the lowest in Gyeonggi at 31.3%.

According to the National Election Commission, the early turnout on the 5th, the second day of early voting, was counted at 34.7%. This is the highest number of early voting turnouts in history.

Of the total of 44,197,692 voters, 15,333,972 voted.

Earlier, the turnout in the 21st general election was the highest at 26.69%, and if you narrow it down to the presidential election, the turnout in the 19th presidential election in 2017 was 26.06%, far exceeding these two records.

It seems to be the result of the gathering of supporters of each camp in this election, in which the frames of ‘re-creation of government’ and ‘regime change’ strongly collided.

The region with the highest turnout before the 20th presidential election was Jeonnam with a turnout of 49.5%. It was followed by Jeonbuk (46.4%), Gwangju (45.7%), and Sejong (41.1%).

The region with the lowest turnout was Gyeonggi-do at 31.3%, followed by Daegu (31.7%) and Incheon and Jeju (31.9%).
