Earthquake again in Indonesia: record intensity 6.2 | 6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Indonesia’s Coast

Jakarta: A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The US Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at a depth of 37 km, 48 km southeast of Singil city in Aceh province.

The earthquake happened around 6.30 local time on Monday. No major injuries or damage have yet been reported. Officials said no tsunami warning has been issued. A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Java on November 21, killing 602 people. Most of the areas of the Cianjur area were heavily damaged in the earthquake. In 2004, 2.26 lakh people in 14 countries were killed in a powerful tsunami following a magnitude 9.1 earthquake in Sumatra.
