Eden Prairie cemented its place in Minnesota high school sports history Thursday, capturing the first Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) boys volleyball championship. The top-seeded⁣ Eagles rallied from behind to defeat the third-seeded Rogers Royals in a ‍thrilling five-set match at the University of St. Thomas. The⁣ final scores were⁣ 21-25,‍ 19-25, 27-25, 25-20, and 15-9.

Facing championship‍ point twice⁤ in the third set, Eden Prairie managed ⁣to secure the⁤ set victory, shifting the ‍momentum in⁣ their ⁤favor. The Eagles’ ⁤offense found⁢ its rhythm in the decisive fifth⁣ set, hitting .400 after struggling earlier⁣ in the match. While Rogers recorded seven blocks to Eden prairie’s zero, the Eagles ⁣minimized errors, ⁣committing 46 compared to Rogers’ 57. This focus on error reduction played a ⁣key role in their⁢ volleyball championship role.

Hardhik Kommalapati led Eden prairie (27-2) with 19⁣ kills, while Gabriel Hernandez ‍contributed 16. Grant Anderson paced ⁤Rogers (27-2) with 25 kills. Ghauthamasank Padmanaban recorded 18 digs for Eden‍ prairie.

In other tournament action, Eastview defeated Spring Lake Park in ⁤four⁣ sets to claim third⁤ place. Central outlasted North St. Paul in a⁢ five-set battle to win the consolation championship.
