Edi Gathegi X-Men Return Confirmed? Actor Reflects on Character Fate
Mister Terrific Spinoff Series Reportedly in the Works for James Gunn‘s DCU
James Gunn is reportedly considering a Mister Terrific spinoff TV series, with actor Edi Gathegi hinting at a significant future for the character following his appearance in the upcoming Superman film.
The buzz around James Gunn’s aspiring DC Universe (DCU) continues to grow, and a new report suggests that one of its key characters, Mister Terrific, could be getting his own dedicated television series.Edi Gathegi, who portrays the brilliant inventor and hero, has spoken about his experience and the potential for more, especially after a pivotal post-credits scene in Superman.
Gathegi, who previously starred in X-Men: Frist Class, shared his contrasting experiences between the two superhero franchises. He described his journey with Superman as a significant shift in perspective and chance.
“The pendulum has swung in the complete opposite direction,” Gathegi explained. “With X-Men: First Class, the message that I received as an actor and as a man of color in this world is you can be the most powerful mutant in the world and they’ll never let you reach your full potential.Whereas with Mister Terrific in Superman, the message that I’m receiving is you can be one of the most intelligent characters in the universe, and you can make a difference. You can help save the world. It’s a different level of conversation.”
This sentiment from Gathegi suggests that Mister Terrific, also known as Michael Holt, will be portrayed as a character who is not onyl highly capable but also integral to the narrative and the world-saving efforts within Gunn’s DCU. The potential for a spinoff series indicates a strong belief in the character’s appeal and the narrative possibilities he offers.
