Eight of children aged 5 to 11 years old who received the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and Germany’s Biontech in the United States developed symptoms of myocarditis, a new study found.

According to Reuters, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on the 16th that there were reports of myocarditis in eight children aged 5 to 11 years who received the Pfizer vaccine.

At the time the CDC was counting cases, there have been over 7 million vaccinations in the United States for children ages 5 to 11. Of these, the 1st dose was 5.1 million doses and the 2nd dose was 2 million doses.

However, the CDC did not clarify whether there was a causal relationship between Pfizer vaccination and the development of myocarditis. They also didn’t disclose the rate of myocarditis in children 5 to 11 years of age if they were not vaccinated.

Previously, the CDC reported that the incidence of myocarditis was at least 69 in men 16 to 17 years of age and about 40 in men aged 12 to 15 per million doses of the second dose of the second dose.

Cheon Eun-mi, a professor of respiratory medicine at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, told JTBC on the phone, “The probability of developing myocarditis is low for 5-11 years of age because the body’s immunity is less than that of adolescence.” Myocarditis is close to zero,” he said.

“Symptoms of myocarditis, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, usually come within three days,” he said. “The important thing is to diagnose and treat quickly.
