“The parents confirmed that the student was resting at home because he had a fever and was taking medicine, and the next day he was transferred to a university hospital.”

It is known that the deceased student did not have any specific underlying diseases and had not been vaccinated.

The quarantine authorities requested the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct a detailed epidemiological investigation based on the opinion of the medical staff that it appears that he died of multiple organ failure due to COVID-19.

Another child under the age of 10 died, followed by a reoccurrence of cluster infections.

At a girls’ high school in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, more than 150 new cases were confirmed in a week.

On the 12th, about 470 students and faculty members went on a school trip to Jeju Island for 3 nights and 4 days, and 13 confirmed cases occurred in the middle and they were sent home.

However, after the school trip, the number of confirmed cases surged, and 159 people, including 144 students and 15 teachers, were confirmed to be infected.

The school is presuming that there were hidden infected people who said they followed quarantine rules during the trip, or that it was due to contact with an infectious agent in the area.

“It’s not like it was decided last month and it’s not carried out this month, but since the beginning of the school year, I’ve already received all (study trip) consulting from the provincial office of education and parental consent…”

The Jeollabuk-do Office of Education said it was not in a situation to cancel the scheduled field trip, and said that it would break down the quarantine guidelines for each school in line with the spread of the virus.
