Third Man Records is set to reissue Heatmiser’s final album, Mic city Sons, in festivity of its 30th anniversary. The reissue, slated for release July 25, features remastered versions of the original 12 songs, along with a collection of 12 rare and previously unreleased tracks. Among these is a “Rock Version” of Elliott Smith’s “Christian Brothers.”
the surviving members of the band—Neil Gust, Sam Coomes, and Tony Lash—decided to revisit Mic City Sons after their collaboration with Third Man on the Music of Heatmiser anthology. Lash said he discovered nearly finished but unmixed tracks,and also some that the band ran out of time to fully develop. He added that the process brought him back to the band’s creative space and life, making him appreciate what they had.
