Eminem Set to Ignite the Stage: Rapper Makes Triumphant Return as VMA Opening Act After 13-Year Hiatus
Eminem to Headline 2024 MTV Video Music Awards
Eminem is set to make a highly anticipated return to the stage as the opening act for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). This will be his first TV appearance since the release of his album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),” in July.
Eminem has a long history with the VMAs, having previously performed at the awards show in 2010, where he took the stage with Rihanna to perform “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie.” He is currently tied with British drummer Phil Collins as the most awarded artist at the VMAs, but with eight awards for which he’s nominated this year, he could break that record.
Eminem’s last performance at the VMAs was in 2022, when he appeared in the metaverse alongside Snoop Dogg. He has also previously performed with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 2012, delivering a memorable rendition of “Forgot About Dre” and “Still DRE.”
This year’s VMAs will feature a star-studded lineup of performers, including Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, GloRilla, Camila Cabello, Rauw Alejandro, Video Vanguard Award winner Katy Perry, and host Megan Thee Stallion.
The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 12, 2024, at 9:00 am Japan time. The main show will be broadcast with Japanese subtitles on MTV from 19:30 to 23:00 on Saturday, September 28.
