Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs Signs Framework with Edamah for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Mr. Yasir Bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company “Edamah”, have signed a framework for cooperation in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The framework includes the Ministry of Electricity and Water providing technical support and advice to Edamah on integrating renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in the company’s facilities and buildings.
National Energy Efficiency Plan and Renewable Energy Plan
According to Mr. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, the framework is part of the Ministry’s efforts to implement the National Energy Efficiency Plan and the National Renewable Energy Plan, which aim to achieve sustainability in energy sources.
The Minister emphasized that Edamah’s direction towards renewable energy sources aligns with the national framework for optimal energy use and sustainability.
Benefits of Renewable Energy
The Minister expressed his appreciation for Edamah’s efforts to integrate into the renewable energy sector, particularly in the field of solar energy systems, which are witnessing significant development due to advancements in technology.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Edamah, thanked the Minister and the Ministry’s employees for their efforts to achieve the goals of the National Renewable Energy Plan and National Energy Efficiency Plan.
Commitment to Sustainability
Edamah is committed to the national trend towards achieving resource sustainability, optimal energy use, and employing renewable energy sources to promote a green economy, in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to reduce emissions by 30% by 2035 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060.
National Renewable Energy Plan Goals
The National Renewable Energy Plan aims to achieve a 5% renewable energy resource contribution to the total energy mix by 2025, increasing to 20% by 2035. The National Energy Efficiency Plan aims to improve energy efficiency by 6% by 2025.
