The Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Councilor emphasized the need to ensure BTCL service at an affordable price in educational institutions as well as various government institutions.
Nahid Islam stated this during an exchange meeting with BTCL officials at the BTCL central office in Dhaka on Thursday.
Reforms in BTCL Services
Nahid Islam said, ‘Today, on the anniversary of the month of the new Bangladesh achieved through the mass uprising of the students, we remember all the martyrs and those injured in the coup with great respect. All the people of Bangladesh are becoming hopeful again. The current time will be used to make reforms, this is what the countrymen expect and we want to make reforms in all areas, so that Bangladesh will benefit in the long run.’
The Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Councilor said, ‘The Government has initiatives but we need to find the reason why it is not reaching the people. We may have limitations, within that we must ensure uncorrupted services for the people.’
Settling Cases Against BTCL
Nahid Islam emphasized the need to settle the cases against BTCL, including stopping the allegations of irregularities and corruption in the appointment of contractors in BTCL projects. In cases where there are audit objections by the government against BTCL officials, the objections need to be settled by collecting the audit objection money from the responsible parties.
Popularizing BTCL Services
He said that BTCL would have benefited a lot by launching ‘Alap’, a highly profitable application of BTCL like WhatsApp. But it didn’t happen. BTCL offers a very popular broadband internet connection called ‘Jipon’. Alap and Zipon need to be popularized through massive campaigns.

Secretary of the Department of Jobs and Telecommunications Dr. Md. Mushfiqur Rahman said, “The current government is a product of the recent anti-discrimination movement of the students.” We move on to build the country in a new way, with new efforts.’
Dr. Md. Mushfiqur Rahman also said that the duty of the state is to serve the people. In order to implement the goals and objectives of the current government’s anti-discrimination movement, it is necessary to ensure that services are provided on the basis of equality among the people. There are some unnecessary administrative structures in providing services that should be reformed and the service delivery system should be simplified so that people can have easy access to the services.
