Jayapura, Papua – Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah choiri Fauzi emphasized that empowering women in Papua is crucial for achieving the nation’s goal of Golden Indonesia 2045. Speaking at the virtual Forum Merdeka Barat 9 on December 16, Minister Fauzi highlighted the importance of local governments in Papua taking concrete steps to uplift women and ensure prosperity for families across the region.
“Empowered women are key drivers of national development,” stated Minister fauzi. “Their contributions are essential for building resilient families, self-reliant villages, and ultimately, a strong Papua.”
The Minister outlined three priority programs her ministry is implementing to empower women and protect children in Papua, aligning with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. These programs include:
Indonesia Common Space (RBI): This initiative aims to create a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders working on women’s empowerment and child protection.
Expansion of the SAPA 129 Hotline Service: This service provides a vital lifeline for women and children experiencing violence or abuse,offering support and access to essential resources.
* Strengthening Village-Based One Data for Women and Children: This program focuses on collecting and analyzing data to better understand the needs of women and children in Papua, enabling targeted interventions and effective policymaking.To further commemorate National Mother’s Day on December 22,the Ministry will implement three additional programs in Papua. These initiatives aim to further strengthen support for women and children, ensuring their well-being and contributing to the realization of Golden Indonesia 2045.
Minister Fauzi stressed that gender equality remains a top priority for Papua and the nation as a whole. “Empowering women not only improves family welfare but also accelerates economic growth,” she explained. “Through collaboration between the central, provincial, and local governments, as well as the community, we can achieve a prosperous golden generation in Papua.”
