ENGIE Named Energy Risk asia’s 2025 Environmental Products House of the Year
ENGIE has been recognized as Energy Risk Asia’s 2025 Environmental products house of the year due to its strong global commitment to decarbonisation and increased activity in the Asia-Pacific (Apac) region. S&EM focuses on enabling clients (residential, businesses, and communities) to reach their decarbonisation goals.
* Apac Expansion: ENGIE’s S&EM branch has expanded its presence in the apac region with new offices in Japan and India.
* virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs): Successfully closed three long-term VPPAs with major offtakers.
* Balancing Service Agreements (Japan): Secured two balancing service agreements in Japan’s developing electricity market with:
* X-Elio Japan (14 MW solar plant in Ube)
* EDP Renewables (solar facility in Fukushima)
* Renewable Energy Credits (RECs): Increased its portfolio of RECs in Singapore.
* internal Capabilities: Developed internal capabilities to run balancing risk management services in Japan, assisting clients in setting up and operating within the Japanese balancing market.
Industry Perspective:
Luis Perezagua Pérez, country managing director of X-elio Japan, stated the agreement with ENGIE will help advance his firm’s goal of expanding renewable energy projects in Japan.
Daphne Chee, head of green solutions, S&EM, Apac, emphasized ENGIE’s role as “an enabler of the broader energy transition, not only through our own assets but by empowering others to scale theirs.”
