Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method Explained
The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method is a mathematical formulation designed to calculate a revised target score for the team batting second in a limited-overs cricket match interrupted by weather or other circumstances. It considers factors such as the number of overs lost, the wickets remaining, and the scoring rate to ensure a fair outcome. The method aims to account for the resources available to each team at any given point in the match.
Here’s a simplified breakdown of the key factors:
- Overs Remaining: The number of overs each team has left to bat.
- Wickets in Hand: The number of wickets a team has remaining.
- Current Run Rate: The average runs scored per over.
