The Democrats party is holding its first congress in Parakou on October 14 and 15. Since the announcement of this event, the president of the party, Éric Houndété, has noted a call for the demobilization of his activists both on social networks and in the press. Faced with this defamatory campaign against his party, Éric Houndété released a press release on October 12, 2023, to reassure and call on his activists to a major mobilization around their congress. He denounces these slanderous inventions which aim to destabilize activists and shake them in order to undermine the unity of the party. At the same time, he invites activists to demonstrate discernment and resilience in the face of these challenges. “Let us turn to wisdom. Let us strengthen our solidarity and remain united, especially in anticipation of our next Congress in Parakou with a view to building together a bright future for our party and for Benin. The only challenge that must mobilize us today is the restoration of democracy, bread and peace for the Beninese,” wrote Eric Houndété in this press release.
