Estonian Charity ‘Jõulutunnel’ Marks 25 Years of Giving, Partners with Cancer Fund
Tallinn, Estonia – For a quarter century, the Estonian Television (ETV) charity program “Jõulutunnel” has been a beacon of hope, bringing together viewers and organizations to address pressing social issues. This Christmas, the program celebrates its 25th anniversary by partnering once again with Kingitud Elu (Gift of Life), a cancer treatment fund dedicated to providing support and extending the lives of those battling the disease.
“Viewers have been exceptionally generous in supporting our partners and their efforts to solve these problems,” said Margus Saar, producer and host of “Jõulutunnel.” He highlighted Kingitud Elu’s impact, stating, “In ten years, this privately initiated fund has grown into a highly impactful association. In addition to supporting those in need, it consistently raises awareness about cancer treatment.”
Founded in 2014, Kingitud Elu relies entirely on voluntary donations. Over the past decade, the fund has provided crucial support to thousands of Estonian families, helping them access essential modern cancer treatments. This support has not only extended lives but also granted patients precious time with loved ones.
Toivo Tänavsuu, founder and board member of kingitud Elu, expressed gratitude for the fund’s ability to assist every individual who has sought help. “This is truly a miracle. It makes one grateful and humble,” he said, reflecting on the 2,700 Estonians who have received support over the past ten years.
However, Tänavsuu acknowledged the growing challenges facing the fund. “There are so many in need, and their treatments are remarkably effective – many continue for a long time, and our support must remain steady,” he explained.
