EU Parliament website not accessible

The EU Parliament’s website is currently unavailable. A spokesman cites technical problems due to maintenance work as the cause.

The European Parliament website will not be accessible on Thursday evening. Instead, error messages are displayed. When asked by t-online, a spokesman for the EU Parliament said there were technical problems due to planned maintenance work. Accordingly, the process is not related to a hacker attack.

In November 2022 there was a so-called DDoS attack from Russia on the website, which also meant that it was unavailable. In such attacks, the website crashes due to an automated high number of requests. A group close to the Kremlin claimed responsibility for the attack.

The group’s motive at the time was probably the Russia resolution, which was passed on the same day. Parliament described Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism” that uses “terrorist methods”.
