Former EXO member Chris (32, Chinese name Wu Yifan), who was transferred to trial in China for sexual assault, was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a Chinese court.

On the 25th, the Beijing Chaoyang District People’s Court (first trial) sentenced Chris to 11 years and 6 months in prison for rape and 1 year and 10 months in prison for group obscenity, a total of 13 years in prison. He was also ordered to be deported abroad after serving his sentence.

Chris was accused of sexually assaulting three women in the same manner, including sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman at his home between November and December 2020. Previously, on July 1, 2018, he was charged with conspiracy with another person in his home and behaved indecently with two women.

The court said, “Chris’ actions fall under the crime of rape and obscenity and must be punished according to the law.”

Chris was taken into criminal custody on July 31 last year on a charge of rape. At the time, the Chinese public security said, “We are conducting an investigation into the suspicion that he lured a young woman several times and had sex with him.”

While being investigated while in custody, he was charged with rape and mass indecency in June, 10 months after his arrest, and was put on trial.

Chris is a Chinese-Canadian actor and singer active in Greater China. He worked as a member of the SM Entertainment group EXO, but in 2014, he filed a lawsuit to confirm that the exclusive contract did not exist and left the team. He returned to China and worked under the name Wu Yifan.
