Ex-president falls asleep in court

Strange scenes occurred in a courtroom in the USA when former US President Donald Trump apparently dozed off in court several times.

The former President of the USA, Donald Trump, fell asleep in court last Monday (local time). The 77-year-old is said to have appeared irritated and exhausted throughout the entire pretrial in Manhattan (New York). This is reported by the “New York Times”.

Even as arguments were read out during the hearing on a case that could jeopardize Trump’s next presidential bid, he couldn’t really keep himself awake. According to the New York Times, the former president dozed off several times during the reading and his head sank onto his chest.

Even as Trump’s own words from the infamous “Access Hollywood” clip – in which he bragged about grabbing women by their genitals – were recited, Trump sat motionless. Trump’s main lawyer, Todd Blanche, also tried the 77-year-old to wake him up by passing him notes several times – it was only after a while that he woke up.

But the former president also showed his classic side in court and repeatedly mocked the proceedings and the things he was accused of. Only when the judge, Juan M. Merchan, warned him and threatened him with a prison sentence if Trump continued to obstruct the process, did he show insight.
