A former soccer coach in Northeast Ohio, Timothy Boggs, 51, has been arrested and indicted on nine counts of sexual battery involving a minor. The charges stem from alleged incidents occurring between October 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025, according to an indictment.
Boggs, formerly the girls’ soccer coach at Northwestern Local Schools, was arrested Monday, April 1, 2026. He resigned from his position on February 25, 2026, with his last official contact with the team occurring in November 2025, according to Northwestern Local Schools Superintendent Julie McCumber.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest. Boggs’ bond was set at $100,000, and he is prohibited from contacting the victim and from serving as a coach or instructor to children under 18.
Allegations and Employment History
The indictment alleges that Boggs “did engage in sexual activity with [REDACTED] cause [REDACTED] to engage in sexual activity with him while [Timothy Boggs] was [REDACTED] athletic or other type of coach, instructor, leader of a scouting troop, or otherwise in a position of temporary or occasional disciplinary control over [REDACTED], a minor and the sexual activity involved was sexual conduct.”
Boggs coached the girls’ soccer team at Northwestern Local Schools for three seasons, from 2023 to 2025. He also coached for Ohio Strikers United Soccer Academy. The academy released a statement acknowledging the indictment but did not provide further details.
School and Academy Statements
“The allegation concerning Mr. Boggs purportedly stems from an incident that allegedly occurred outside of his role as a scholastic coach and was not connected to his employment with our district,”
Northwestern Local Schools Superintendent Julie McCumber
Superintendent McCumber’s statement emphasizes that the alleged incident occurred outside of Boggs’ official capacity as a school coach. However, court documents indicate that Boggs was a youth coach and private instructor for the victim, utilizing his coaching relationship to allegedly facilitate a sexual relationship.
ICE Detainer
In a separate development, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on Boggs, according to 3News Investigates. The reason for the detainer is currently unclear. ICE detainers are typically issued when there are convictions for serious felonies, such as robbery, kidnapping, homicide, and sexual assault.
However, Boggs has not yet been convicted of any crime and is presumed innocent. His next court date has not been announced.
Legal Proceedings and Restrictions
Boggs was arraigned on Wednesday on each count of sexual battery. As a condition of his bond, he is prohibited from having any contact with the victim and is barred from coaching or instructing any children under the age of 18. The case is being prosecuted by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
