A key prosecutor’s official told MBC that Ms. Kim could be summoned for questioning even before the appeals court makes a decision.
If Ms. Kim is summoned on suspicion of receiving luxury handbags, for which the Attorney General has ordered a swift investigation, an investigation on suspicion of stock price manipulation will also be conducted at the same time.

At a press conference yesterday, President Yoon Seok-yeol said he had received sufficient information on the investigation into Deutsche Motors’ stock price manipulation.

“In fact, targeting me, the prosecution mobilized a special department and conducted a very intense investigation.”
The Office of the President’s position is that Ms. Kim was deceived into entrusting her account to a stock manipulator and did not participate in the stock price manipulation.
Immediately after the general election, the prosecution changed its position, saying it could investigate Ms. Kim even before the results of the appeals trial were announced.
A key prosecutor’s office said: “Hasn’t the pressure to investigate the president’s family increased due to the ruling party’s crushing defeat?”
This official said the Office of the President’s decision is important.
“If the Office of the President and Ms. Kim say they will do so proactively, shouldn’t they resolve this matter regardless of the appeals court’s ruling?”
He also said, “Since we cannot call Ms. Kim multiple times, if she shows up and is investigated on suspicion of receiving luxury handbags, shouldn’t we proceed with the investigation on suspicion of stock price manipulation as well? ”
“We are also preparing so that the prosecution can investigate if Ms. Kim were to come out at any time,” he said.
A key prosecutor’s official said he had also explained to Ms. Kim’s lawyer late last year the opinion that “in principle, the investigation can only be concluded.”
Hot on the heels of the ruling party’s crushing defeat in the general election, the opposition party is pushing hard to push through a special prosecutorial bill for First Lady Kim Kun-hee.
Attorney General Lee Won-seok directly ordered the head of the Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Song Kyung-ho, to quickly and thoroughly investigate the case of suspected receipt of Ms. Kim’s luxury bag.
There were differing interpretations as to whether this was a pre-arranged agreement with the Office of the President or whether the prosecution was going its own way and distancing itself from the Office of the President.
On his first commute to work after the president’s press conference, President Lee said nothing about the possibility of a subpoena investigation into Ms. Kim.
