It takes a huge amount of work,
DGM Ltd Managing Director Steve Dommett said, describing the daily upkeep of elite rugby pitches as grounds teams walk thousands of steps to manage turf health. Exeter Chiefs has officially partnered with DGM Ltd as its official grounds partner, launching a dedicated video series that highlights the intricate maintenance required at Sandy Park through the rugby season.
Under the agreement, DGM Ltd—formerly known as Devon Garden Machinery—supplies essential machinery, servicing, and technical support to the Exeter Chiefs grounds team. The partnership covers comprehensive pitch management across Gallagher Premiership Rugby fixtures and international matches hosted at the venue. The newly launched video series follows the grounds staff through pitch preparation, aeration, drainage, feeding, line marking, and turf health management while responding directly to adverse weather conditions and intense matchday schedules.
DGM Ltd Supports Sandy Park Pitch Maintenance
Maintaining an elite rugby playing surface has grown increasingly demanding for professional sports clubs investing in infrastructure and specialist technology. Pitch quality directly impacts player performance, overall safety, and broadcast presentation. The partnership follows a busy period for Sandy Park, which recently welcomed a sold-out international crowd for the Red Roses fixture against Canada.
For DGM Ltd, the collaboration reinforces deep ties to the South West of England as a local family business supporting a major community anchor. The video initiative aims to pull back the curtain on these behind-the-scenes operations, giving supporters a closer look at the daily effort required to deliver first-team rugby matches.
