Expectations for the revival of Apple’s Vision Pro, LG Innotek, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and LG Display are set to benefit

[비즈니스포스트] After the release of Apple’s ambitious work, ‘Vision Pro’, there are analyzes that its unique scalability will shine in the medium to long term amid mixed expectations and disappointment.

As the domestic stock market generally gives a positive view of the contribution to Vision Pro’s performance, attention is also focused on domestic stocks that will benefit.

According to the global financial investment platform Investing.com on the 8th, Apple’s stock price showed a weak trend for three consecutive trading days: the 5th (-0.76%), the 6th (-0.21%), and the 7th (- 0.78%) local time.

It is interpreted as a result of a reflection of the volume withdrawal and the expected purchase by material exposure after the release of Apple’s Vision Pro on the 5th local time.

Vision Pro is Apple’s XR (augmented reality) headset device that can drive functions like existing smartphone apps through augmented reality unfolding before your eyes.

Apple CEO (CEO) Tim Cook boasted, “As a product that pioneers a new field of spatial computing through XR, it will be similar to the appearance of the Macintosh and the iPhone,” but it was not enough to reverse disappointment users.

Spatial computing technology is new, but it is estimated that the lack of a new application suitable for it has raised concerns in the market. In fact, the current use of Vision Pro is limited to enlarging and viewing photos or video call screens through spatial computing, which does not deviate much from existing smartphone functions.

In addition, the price of Vision Pro is 3,499 dollars (about 4.58 million won), which is a burden to buy.

However, unlike this disappointment that came with the launch, optimism about the Vision Pro is emerging here and there.

The British media The Economist said, “Even when the iPhone was first released 16 years ago, it was of little use compared to new technology. I do not hesitate to pay about $1,000 (about 1.3 million earned ) for iPhone.”

The Economist went on to say, “The Internet started for file sharing at first, and later its use expanded to the web, etc., and television is similar.” Ten million units are sold,” he added.

In fact, specialists such as surgeons, engineers and architects are already researching how to use spatial computing technology. Additionally, due to the nature of the technology, it has infinite potential for use in education and entertainment.

In the first place, there is an opinion that the purpose of releasing Vision Pro this time is to attract developers rather than commercial sales. In the case of the iPhone, even in the fiercely competitive spatial computer headset market, getting developers ahead will determine success or failure.

In fact, Apple seems to have a high preference for developers, such as providing a friendly working environment for developers, and it is evaluated that Apple has already surpassed the meta of the biggest competitor in the XR headset market.

The domestic stock market generally comments favorably on Vision Pro.

Lee Kyu-ha, a researcher at NH Investment & Securities, said, “Vision Pro is the most innovative hardware that Apple has released since the iPhone.”

Kim Yang-jae, a researcher at Daol Investment & Securities, also said, “Vision Pro has a high level of perfection in terms of hardware as well as software.

When Vision Pro, which has such high potential, is released in the first quarter of next year, it is expected that domestic companies that supply parts will be able to benefit.

Researcher Kim said, “We present LG Innotek and LG Display as the domestic beneficiaries of Vision Pro.”

Oh Hyun-jin, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, also said, “Among domestic companies, parts of LG Innotek, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and LG Display will be included.”

LG Innotek supplies LiDAR scanners and TrueDepth camera modules to Vision Pro. XR devices like the Vision Pro are expected to expand LG Innotek’s front end market as the number of camera modules is more than twice that of smartphones.

In response, Kyu-ha Lee, a researcher at NH Investment & Securities, said in a report on the 7th, “We raise LG Innotek’s target price from 350,000 won to 400,000 won.”

Oh Kang-ho, a researcher at Shinhan Investment & Securities, also said, “We should pay attention to camera module manufacturers as hardware-related beneficiaries in the XR market.”

Samsung Electro-Mechanics supplies FC boards for M2 processors to Vision Pro, and Vision Pro has a total of two processors, which is expected to increase Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ supply in the medium to long term.

Researcher Lee Kyu-ha said, “With Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ supply of Vision Pro expected to increase, there is a possibility to benefit even more from the expansion of the XR market.”

On the other hand, LG Display supplies the Vision Pro with an external plastic OLED, and it seems to have better OLED technology compared to its competitors, so there is a possibility that it will also supply an internal OLED in the future. Reporter Taeyoung Kim
