Experience Fun and Family at Cinema 6: Movies, Arcade, and More in Port Richey

Experience Fun and Family at Cinema 6: Movies, Arcade, and More in Port Richey

Cinema 6: A Local Favorite in Port Richey

Cinema 6 in Port Richey offers first-run movies at affordable prices, with the most expensive ticket costing $8.50. The theater features comfy seating, including the option to recline and elevate feet. It is a popular spot for families and date nights.

Owners Chanel Casteel and Jason Dover have managed Cinema 6 for over ten years. They note that streaming services have reduced theater attendance. Casteel explains, “When they don’t put out good movies, we don’t have people coming to the theater. But we still have bills to pay.”

To adapt to changing times, the couple recently expanded the theater into an adjacent space, creating an arcade, café, and party room. This new area is known as Level Up Entertainment. The arcade caters to all ages, with many games suitable for older children and adults. It includes a dining area, serving food from the theater’s full kitchen, specialty milkshakes, and alcoholic beverages.

Casteel mentions that alcohol will be self-serve, allowing patrons to manage their own drinks with a card system. This approach allows teenage staff to work without directly serving alcohol. The café will also welcome adults looking for a relaxed environment, like book club meetings. Parents can enjoy movies while their children play in the arcade.

This expansion is the latest change for Cinema 6. Last year, the theater upgraded screening rooms, and before that, it switched from 35 mm film to digital streaming. Casteel emphasizes the need for creativity to attract customers, especially following natural disasters affecting the local economy.

Jason and their youngest daughter, Ella Dover, designed the arcade. Jason plans to open a second Level Up location in two years, possibly with minigolf or racing. Ella, 16, is already studying business and hopes to run that location.

Cinema 6 embodies a family-first approach. All Casteel’s children have worked there, and her eldest daughter recently returned with her baby. Casteel considers her high school employees as part of her family.

The new complex aims to provide families a fun outing in one place. Cinema 6 is located at 9510 U.S. 19 in Port Richey. For more information and tickets, visit thecinema6.com.
