With the success of Fallout and the widespread popularity of recent video game adaptations, many gamers are wondering what the next adaptations of their favorite games might be.
For Blizzard’s part, franchise head Rod Fergusson seems to think Diablo has a lot of potential whether it’s brought to the big or small screen. In an interview with Windows Central, Fergusson said the following when asked if he thought Diablo would translate well:
“Yeah, I definitely think it could work. That’s what I really like about Diablo as an IP, because it has very relatable themes because it’s heaven versus burning hell and good versus evil. Idea. I think it could translate well into something like that, and I wish I could talk to you about it today, but in terms of the general idea, do I think this could work?
Diablo is already known for its franchise films, so perhaps it has the potential to become a spectacle. One potential problem is translating the gameplay so the show feels like a true tribute, but there’s certainly a lot of story for the showrunners to delve into.
