Exploring Volume, Silhouette, and Material: Tory Burch’s 2024 F/W Collection

CURCH Y TORRI 2024 F/W Collection

Tory Burch presented his 24 season FW collection at Astor Hall in New York’s landmark New York Public Library on Monday night. Tory Burch, who opened a small shop in Nolita, Manhattan with the help of friends and family in February 2004, is celebrating 20 years since the launch of her brand this year. However, rather than putting on a huge show to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary, they explored new fashions with their unique candid attitude and still curious eyes.

At the center of the exploration was volume, silhouette and material. The architectural shape creation pattern stood out in contrast to the feminine items. A work jacket with chest pocket detailing and shoulder pads was mixed and matched with a feminine ruffle dress. The skirt was cut in a unique trapezoidal shape, as if clothes were made through origami, and matched with a futuristic hooded top that hugged the body. Tory Burch made the silhouette game more interesting by experimentally using various materials. Coats and dresses were presented using tinsel fringe material, which is extremely light but boasts great volume, a minidress decorated with bouncing ruffles, and a sequin fringe that reinterprets the lampshade that was in every home American in the 1960s. Everything, even the dress, was odd. In addition, materials such as shiny faux crocodile, paper thin leather, black astrakhan with a beautiful shine, and transparent vinyl and nylon made everyday clothes unfamiliar and different. The white fringed coat worn by model Irina Shayk in the finale is arguably the pinnacle of Tory Burch’s exploration of materials and silhouettes. Accessories also have a dual appeal that is classic and futuristic. The Pierce pumps with their unique organic shape and Lee Radziwill’s shopper tote which can be folded in half to look like a clutch are the main characters that caught the eye.

Tory Burch was simply commemorating her 20 years of dedication with one word, ‘Aruchel’, which means ‘sublime’. This word was placed in a Jacquard pattern and shined softly on items such as sleeveless tops, skirts, and stockings. The designer explains, ‘People don’t use it often, but it’s one of my favorite words.’ Like the shower cap inspired feminine dress, Tory Burch’s vision and 20 year journey of making the everyday sublime shone brightly.
