A female YouTuber who produced defamatory videos about girl group I.B member Jang Won-young has been additionally accused of committing similar crimes against members of another group.

The Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office’s 1st Criminal Division (Chief Prosecutor Yoo Jeong-ho) announced that it has confirmed the YouTuber, in her 30s, committed additional crimes against famous celebrities and has indicted her without detention on charges of defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

The victim in this additional indictment is not affiliated with Ive. The YouTuber is accused of producing a video that was insulting and degrading to the appearance of a female idol group member and posting it on her YouTube channel from July 2022 to January of last year.

In August 2022, she was also accused of posting a false video about the fan management practices of a male idol group on her YouTube channel, damaging the reputation of the idol group and interfering with the management work of the agency.

Last May, the prosecution indicted the YouTuber on charges of defamation for uploading videos defaming seven celebrities and public figures, including Jang Won-young, on the Internet between October 2021 and June of last year. During this period, the YouTuber was found to have earned 250 million won in profits from paying members and others.

The YouTuber produced and distributed false videos containing content such as, “Jang Won-young was jealous, so a fellow trainee’s debut was ruined” and “Other celebrities also engaged in prostitution or had plastic surgery.”

The prosecution stated, “We will respond sternly to cyber wrecking crimes and prepare for trial to ensure that those who commit them receive a punishment appropriate to their crimes.”

Cyber wreckers are YouTubers who create content by editing and posting videos of high-profile incidents to criticize and slander the people involved.
