As the government dispute continued for more than two months, medical school professors on call at the hospital announced a series of closures due to fatigue.

Concerns are growing about medical gaps.

Professors at major hospitals in the country are expected to begin the resignation process as scheduled starting tomorrow (25th).

The National Medical University Professors’ Emergency Response Committee, in which the nation’s top 20 medical schools participate, held a general meeting last night (23) and reiterated that the resignations will begin tomorrow.

Although Vice Minister of Health and Welfare Park Min-soo had previously rejected the resignation, stating, “Resignation is impossible unless the university president accepts it,” the professors stressed that they would proceed regardless of the policy of acceptance of the government’s resignation.

The emergency committee also discusses a break, saying that the teachers’ physical and mental strengths have reached their limit due to work exceeding 70-100 hours per week.

First, each university will independently decide to close for one day next week, and whether to close regularly once a week will be decided at the ordinary general meeting on the 26th.

The emergency committee of the faculty council of Seoul National University School of Medicine announced that it will suspend medical treatment for one day, the 30th, and will also invite submissions of documents to provide a scientific and rational basis on the number of doctors .

This is interpreted as a measure to respond to the government’s request to provide scientific evidence.

The emergency committee of the Association of Medical Faculties of Ulsan College, which includes professors from Asan Medical Center in Seoul, also decided to take a break once a week starting from the 3rd of next month.

Many hospitals in the region have already decided to reduce outpatient services and surgeries.

The emergency committees of Chungnam National University Hospital and Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital have decided to close every Friday starting this week, and the emergency committee of Wonkwang University Hospital has also decided to stop surgeries every Friday starting from the 26th.

Although these hospitals have explained that they will continue to provide care and surgery to critical and emergency patients, it seems inevitable that the medical gap will widen.
