Fall of a High-Ranking Officer: Lieutenant General Khalid bin Karr al-Harbi’s 20-Year Sentence Shocks the Nation
Former Public Security Director Convicted of Corruption and Abuse of Power
A recent statement from the Ministry of Interior referenced Royal Order No. A/60, dated 1/30/1443 AH, which terminated the service of Lieutenant General Khaled bin Qarr al-Harbi, former Public Security Director.
Al-Harbi was referred to retirement and accused of several crimes, including misappropriation of public funds, corruption, and abuse of power for personal gain. The Corruption authorities initiated an investigation and sent him to the appropriate court under the Criminal Procedure Code.
A final verdict was issued, convicting al-Harbi on charges of bribery and fraud. He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of ten years and fined 1,000,000 Saudi Riyals, which will be deposited into the public treasury of the state.
Additionally, al-Harbi was convicted of the crime of exploiting government contracts and the crime of embezzlement of public funds. He was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of ten years and ordered to forfeit the amount of bribe received, totaling 10,084,303 Saudi Riyals.
He was also obligated to return the embezzled money, totaling 2,827,000 Saudi Riyals, to the general treasury of the state. Furthermore, al-Harbi was ordered to return financial assistance given to his relatives in the form of confiscated gifts or bribes, totaling 175,000 Saudi Riyals.
The court also ordered the confiscation of two agricultural lands obtained from the crime and the return of 584,000 Saudi Riyals to the public treasury of the state.
