Famous Game Influencer Sparks Riot in Manhattan with Promise of Free PlayStation 5

A riot erupted in downtown Manhattan, New York after a famous American gaming influencer promised a free gift. According to The New York Times (NYT), the New York Police Department (NYPD) is planning to charge a 21-year-old named Kai Senat with inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.

Senat, who boasts a staggering 20 million followers on social media platforms like YouTube and Twitch, recently announced during a live stream that he would be giving away the highly coveted game console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5), at Union Square, a park located in Manhattan.

As the news quickly spread online, thousands of people flooded Union Square well before the scheduled 4 pm giveaway. Not only did they occupy the park, but they also took over parking spaces and nearby roads, exhibiting aggressive behavior such as impeding pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Some individuals even engaged in confrontations with law enforcement, and there were instances of attacks on nearby vehicles and shops. As a result, the police ended up arresting a total of 65 individuals involved in the chaos.

A riot broke out in downtown Manhattan, New York over the promise of a free gift from a famous American game influencer.

The New York Times (NYT) reported on the 5th local time that the New York Police Department (NYPD) intends to charge Kai Senat (21) with inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.

Senat, who has 20 million followers on social media (SNS) such as YouTube and Twitch, said in a recent live broadcast that he would be giving away the popular game console ‘Play Station 5’ (PS5) at Union Square, a park in Manhattan. .

As the comments spread online, thousands of citizens flocked to Union Square before the 4pm appointment time the previous day.

They occupied not only Union Square, but also parking spaces and surrounding roads, and showed aggressive behaviour, such as blocking pedestrians and vehicles.

Some citizens struggled with the police or attacked nearby vehicles and shops, and the police arrested a total of 65 citizens.
