British actor Julian Sands (65), who appeared in the film ‘A Room with a View’, went missing while hiking in California, USA, and has been missing for a week.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office in California announced on the 19th (local time) that Sands had gone missing from the Baldisan Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sands went hiking on the 13th and when he didn’t return home, his family reported him missing.

After receiving a missing person report, the police immediately sent a ground search team to Mount Baldi and searched the beach for 24 hours, but withdrew due to bad weather and the risk of avalanches.

Authorities are conducting an aerial search using helicopters and drones, and plan to resume a ground search as soon as conditions allow.

Baldisan is an area about 80 km northeast of Los Angeles (LA), and is a place frequented by nearby hikers and skiers.

Heavy rain fell in Southern California from the 13th, when Sands went on a hike, until the weekend, and for the past four weeks, heavy snow fell near Mount Baldy, resulting in the death of two hikers.

A multiple Academy Award nominee, Sands made a name for herself in 1985 starring opposite Helena Bonham Carter in James Ivory’s British romance ‘A Room with a View’.

‘Warlock’ (1989), ‘The Secret of Arachne’ (1991), ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ (1993), and ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ (1995) are also his main works.

Sands, a British citizen, moved to the United States to work in Hollywood after receiving favorable reviews in ‘A Room with a View’, and is known to have lived with his family in North Hollywood before disappearing.
