Famous Peking Opera artist Zhao Huiqiu dies

According to the official Weibo account of Beiqing Entertainment, Mr. Zhao Huiqiu, a disciple of Mr. Rong Diexian, Mr. Li Lingfeng and Mr. Xun Huisheng, died today at the age of 93.

Zhao Huiqiu (1929-2022) was an actor in Peking Opera. His ancestral home in Shandong studied opera with Rong Diexian in 1938, and asked Li Lingfeng for advice in 1944; after performing with Tan Fuying in 1950, he chose a class by himself and traveled all over the country; in 1956, he participated in the Tianjin Peking Opera Troupe as the starring role, and cooperated with Yang Baosen, Li Huiliang and Zhang Shilin in “The Tour”. “Dragon Playing the Phoenix”, “Famen Temple”, “Railway Guerrilla”, “Sea Fisherman’s Song”, “August 1st Storm”, etc.; in 1961, he worshipped Xun Huisheng as his teacher. His repertoires include Mu Kezhai, Trial Thorn Soup, Matchmaker, Jin Yunu, Du Shiniang, Yutangchun, Xiangluo Dai, Kanyu Chuan, Huo Xiaoyu, etc.
