Fan Backlash Forces Treyarch to Reinstate XP Tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Fan Backlash Forces Treyarch to Reinstate XP Tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Treyarch Reverses Decision on Black Ops 6 XP Tokens

Treyarch, the developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, reversed its choice to remove legacy XP tokens after players reacted strongly. When Season 1 launched, players found that they could use XP tokens they had earned in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. However, these tokens disappeared within 24 hours.

Treyarch later stated that the previous ability to use legacy XP tokens was a bug. They claimed it posed risks to game stability and patched the issue. Players criticized the removal, as XP tokens help level up characters, earn attachments faster, and unlock cosmetics more quickly.

In response to fan backlash, Treyarch announced it would work on a proper reimplementation of the tokens. They mentioned that the appearance of the tokens was unintended and that they were testing a new way to include them.

For now, players can still use their legacy XP tokens. By loading Warzone, activating the tokens, and then returning to Black Ops 6, they can still receive the XP benefits.
