Farmer mocked the camera with gun in hand after killing elderly couple in MT

Certainty of impunity: Farmer laughed and pointed gun at camera after murdering elderly couple in Mato Grosso. The rancher’s son, who is a doctor, also appears pointing a 12-gauge shotgun at the camera and firing a shot. Moments after the crime, mother and son were caught buying beer at a convenience store

Ines and Bruno Gemilaki

Images show livestock farmer Ines Gemilaki, 48, smiling and pointing a firearm at a security camera last Sunday. Her son, doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz, 28, also appears pointing a 12-gauge shotgun at the camera.

The image was recorded shortly after the two left the house they invaded in Peixoto de Azevedo. The attack resulted in the death of two elderly people and left a priest injured. In the images, before the two look at the camera, it is possible to see Ines leaving the house, while Bruno was waiting for her near the gate.

On Tuesday (23), Marcio Ferreira Gonçalves, Inês’ husband, and his brother, Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues, who participated in the crime, were arrested in Alta Floresta, 800 km from Cuiabá. Ines and Bruno handed themselves in to the police on the same day and were arrested preventively.

THE CASE

Images from two security cameras show that at least eight people were in the house when the woman entered shooting. The son went to the backyard and also fired shots. Ines, who appears in a blue blouse, had a pistol, and Bruno, in white, had a 12-gauge shotgun.

In another part of the video, mother and son appeared running away, carrying firearms. The police, who are still investigating the case, suspect that the motivation for the crime is a commercial disagreement involving rent payments for the invaded house. According to police, the main target of the attack was the owner of the house, who was not hit by the shots.

Moments after the crime, mother and son were caught buying beer, water and soft drinks, at the convenience of a gas station, in the city of Matupá, about 13 km from the scene of the homicide, during their escape. A security camera at the convenience recorded the moment the suspect rushed the attendant while she was talking on the phone.
