Updated May 27, 2025
reddit’s burger aficionados have spoken, delivering their opinions on the best fast food hamburger.
After sifting through extensive feedback, a clear hierarchy emerged, judging each chain on volume of praise,
passion, flavor, and overall quality. Local eateries and international-only locations were excluded to focus
on major U.S. drive-thru chains.
McDonald’s, a global fast food giant, didn’t fare well in the rankings. Many Reddit users criticized its
standard hamburger and cheeseburger for being underwhelming. One user, u/toxicporkchops, admitted, “The only
burger I like from there is the Big Mac, and honestly it’s just the Mac sauce.”
In-N-Out, the West coast favorite, sparked considerable debate. While celebrated by many, some found it
overrated. User u/TopicSlight8888 described their burgers as “boring,” and u/WhatYeezytaughtme claimed they
weren’t “even better than Steak n Shake.” However, u/Soma86ed defended In-N-Out, citing its “best tasting
burger… moast consistent, and they use legitimate ingredients.”
Sonic received praise for its burger flavors, but some Reddit users expressed concerns about consistency. The
fast food chain’s quality seemingly varies.
