Government Secures Support for Constitutional Reforms
The government has claimed the support of Maulana Fazlur Rehman for important constitutional reforms and has secured the required numbers. The President and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a dinner for the coalition parties on the issue of important constitutional amendments, where it was agreed to introduce the amendments in the Senedd and the National Assembly.
Coalition Parties Unite for Constitutional Amendments
The Prime Minister gave a lunch to the members of the coalition parties, which was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Amil Wali Khan, and other members of Parliament. The prime minister took members of the coalition parties and the Muslim League-N into confidence regarding the constitutional amendments, while at the dinner, they also agreed to present the amendments in the current session of the National Assembly and the Senedd.
The Prime Minister directed all the members, including the PML-N, to remain present in Islamabad while addressing the members and said that what happened in the PTI meeting was very sad. The participants took the position that Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the members had assured their support for the constitutional amendments.
Government Completes Quorum for Approving Constitutional Amendments
According to sources, the government has completed its quorum for approving the constitutional amendments and has received the support of 224 members. The Prime Minister thanked the parliamentarians of the coalition parties for their cooperation in government affairs and said that the inflation rate in August was 9.6%, a reflection of the government’s measures to improve the economy.
The prediction of a further reduction in the rate of inflation is nothing less than good news for the nation. The inflation rate was left at a single digit in 2018 as well. He said that he is grateful to Allah Almighty, whose grace signs of improvement are gradually emerging for the country and the nation.
Prime Minister’s Vision for Pakistan’s Development
Shahbaz Sharif said that after taking over the responsibilities of Khadim-e-Pakistan, he promised the people that he would alleviate their problems only by reducing them. It is not possible to achieve the goal of development of Pakistan without making life easier and economically prosperous for the people. Digitizing the economy is the government’s main priority; the initiation of the complete digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue is an important milestone in this regard.
He said measures are being taken for the low-income and poor groups regarding electricity bills. The right sizing and downsizing process has started in terms of downsizing the government and reducing expenditure. The country needs political stability; it needs continuity of policies.
