Collaboration is central to the role. The FRM will coordinate with relevant partners, including a dedicated HUB, to address access and reimbursement issues. Serving as a payer expert for their defined geography, the FRM will promptly communicate any payer changes to key stakeholders.

The FRM will also review patient insurance benefit options and explore alternate funding or financial assistance programs.

Working Conditions and Travel

The role involves a hybrid work model, with three days per week dedicated to customer appointments within the designated geography. The remaining time is expected to be spent working remotely. The position requires travel up to 60-80% of the time, utilizing both automobile and air travel. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory. The role may involve extended periods of sitting and keyboard work.

Qualifications

Amgen seeks candidates with a minimum of two years of experience in the public or private third-party access arena or pharmaceutical industry, coupled with a doctorate degree. Alternatively, a master’s degree requires six years of relevant experience, while a bachelor’s degree requires eight years. An associate degree necessitates ten years of experience in a similar role.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field, along with six years of experience with specialty or biologic self-injectable (pharmacy benefit) or physician-administered (buy and bill/medical benefit) products. Advanced knowledge of medical insurance terminology is also desired.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policies and processes, particularly within Medicare (Part B for buy & bill products and Part D for pharmacy products). Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage ambiguity, and experience managing expenses within allocated budgets are also valued.

Amgen also seeks candidates with strong medical reimbursement experience, specialty pharmacy and buy & bill knowledge, proven presentation and facilitation skills, and strong written and oral communication abilities. Organizational skills, project management experience, and computer literacy – including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – are also important.
