Fiji Surf Retreat: Ageless Living & Surfing Paradise
Beyond the Barrel: nathan Hedge’s New Approach to Surfing Longevity
Published August 20, 2025
Nathan Hedge, the Australian surfer known for his fearless approach to waves, has redefined his relationship with the ocean. Once driven by pushing limits – famously paddling four miles solo to surf Cloudbreak on his 23rd birthday – Hedgey, now 45, is focused on a more enduring path: maximizing health and extending a career he loves. Last year alone, he scored one of the biggest tubes of his life at a challenging Australian slab, proving age is no barrier to progression.

This shift in focus culminates in a unique offering: a weeklong holistic surf and wellness retreat hosted at the iconic Tavarua Island Resort in Fiji, beginning September 6th. It’s not simply a surf camp, but a full immersion into physical and mental wellbeing designed to elevate your surfing – and your life.
A Holistic Approach to Peak Performance
The retreat is built around a comprehensive program encompassing multiple disciplines.Guests will benefit from yoga and meditation sessions led by two-time world champion Tom Carroll, foundational training with John Gannon – renowned for his work with Championship Tour surfers like Taj Burrow – and breath-holding techniques taught by specialist Augusto Vegas. Hedge himself will provide personalized surfing analysis, lineup guidance, and a ancient perspective on Cloudbreak, alongside Tavarua’s Managing Director, Jon Roseman.
“Growing up, I never imagined running something like this,” Hedge admits. ”But I’m inspired by people who challenge the notion of age limiting potential. It’s empowering to help others break those barriers and discover what they’re capable of.”
