yasumi Matsuno, creator and director of Final Fantasy Tactics, revealed the inspiration behind the game’s story: to offer hope during a period of economic hardship.With the upcoming release of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Matsuno shared a message on X, addressing current societal divisions and unrest.
Matsuno crafted the original narrative nearly 30 years ago, amidst Japan’s economic struggles. He explained that the story of ramza, who battles against social class systems, and Delita, who exploits societal turmoil, was designed to resonate with those “robbed of hope.”
The Final Fantasy Tactics remaster will feature both the classic original version, including the War of the Lions translation, and a new version with voice acting, a revamped interface, enhanced visuals, and story adjustments. The game is slated for release on Sept. 30, 2025, for the PlayStation 5.
